Ith uestions then I had answers which is a letdown for me I found myself frustrated with the ending because it was short But I know that no book will ever answer all the uestions fans have I would recommend reading this book even if you idn t like the first one this was miles betterOver all rating3 out of 5 stars Go out and get a copy in a legal way of course and read itCover artI found the cover art to be like the book a fun airy feelObtained I obtained an ARC through the publisher via Netgalley Thank youThis book will be available January 18 2011 So far I m liking it I m just getting to the good part Mystify is the second book in Artist Arthur s Mystyx series I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Manifest the first in the series Mystify is told from Sasha s viewpoint and continues to take us on the adventure that this little group of teens the Mystyx have been thrown in Neither of them is certain of their purpose yet but they Memoir of a Misfit do recognize that they have at least two things in common a birthmark in the shape of an M and the second being that they each have a power In Mystify Sasha learns that her power is the ability to astral project She figures this out haphazardly one night while she s in bed thinking about Antoine a black boy who lives across the tracks and finds herself at aance club with him but somehow she s left her body at home in bed Sasha is a supposed Richie so someone her parents Looking for the Toffees demand that she hang out with the right kind of peopleo the right kind of activities not someone who wants to Raising Gods Girl date Antoine and who s best friend since elementary has been Jake a Trackie By trying to keep her parentsemands in check she finds herself alienating her friends and Antoine However the Darkness brings the four friends together and now the Mystyx needs to learn about the Darkness what is it and how are they going to stop it and whyArtist Arthur has The Gulag Handbook done a wonderful job bringing to light or rather keeping the issues ofiscrimination in the forefront of a great story The Beckoning Lady (Albert Campion dealing with Good and Evil I love it The Good vs Evil battle has aifferent twist than most out there today so Will in the World definitely worth a read I just loved how well Ms Arthur combines paranormal with real liferama Not with over June Fourth Elegies dramatic stuff but everyday real stuff that people go through every singleayWe meet Sasha who s life is nothing but what is seems She is Baby and Child Vegetarian Recipes drenched in a world that she totallyislikes and wants nothing part of it Sasha meets Antoine and is having an extremely hard time fighting the attraction to him Things get complicated and she must face the uestion what really mattersWhat really matters when it comes to a relationship I know now and The Confabulist days people are much lenient when it comes toating people of other races But some people are extremely old fashioned and on t think its is right to stray outside of your race your class your people etc Sasha is faced with this situation time and time again in this book She wants to go with her heart but faces trouble when her parents uestions why she is hanging out with that thugI loved that Sasha is strong and fierce She knows what she wants keeps herself out of trouble and makes good grade And even though she is a richie she oes not egrade everyone who is not She is all around friendly Sasha sticks up for her friends and her love fighting her parents all the wayThe paranormal part was awesome I love the whole aspect of Gods and Goddesses in a big war This book also made for great entrainment with ALL THE RESEARCHING AND SEEKING OUT the researching and seeking out Ms Arthur certainly knew how to raw me into her wonderful world of Mystyx The characters were strong yet fresh Each of them finding themselves in this world as well as fighting a war with their powers I can t wait to read her next book I have to say I wasn t a fan of Sasha s side of the story Not because she was a spoiled little rich girl uite the opposite actually Not because she was a Spring Comes to Sanctuary (Welcome to Sanctuary, drama ueen which she wasn t butrama always seemed to find her Not because she just couldn t make up her mind about the boys flocking around her it was just one boy but she actually couldn t really make up her mind so that s partially true I just Ask the Past didn t like her voice Iidn t find all that much compelling about it and when it ended I was glad to be out of her headNow with that aside I liked everything else I actually really liked Sasha as a character Despite her upbringing she s pretty grounded in reality and thinks for herself I really liked that about her She s an immensely loyal person and Riding Class (Saddle Club, doesn t cave on her laurels very easily She swayed back and forth with Antoine because of what her parents would think but considering everything else she could haveone considering her parents I think that was pretty minor and I could easily accept it as a character flaw She s a very strong willed girl and I wish there were like her in YA all around I just Silver Stirrups (Saddle Club, didn t like her voice Iidn t like the way she relayed information to the reader Despite the situations she was in at times I found her escriptions boring But other than that no complaintsAs I was saying situations she was in at times I found her escriptions boring But other than that no complaintsAs I was saying with her and Antoine well I m not an Antoine fan Any guy that Short Stories by Roald Dahl doesn t get the hintoes not rank highly on my list I found him forceful and pig headed constantly in Sasha s face when she was trying to get away from him not in an attacker sort of way but just I said no now leave me alone sort of way That s not to say he wasn t a nice guy when Sasha gave in to him but she gave in Did she start liking him because she really liked him or was it all a result of consigning to his persistence I have a hard time telling And the little fit he threw when she couldn t hang out I Goldilocks the Three Bears didn t think Sasha was the one that should have been apologizing But that s just meFor the overall story arc it s getting interesting Characters that were merely a passing reference in Krystal s story are front and center in this one and not in a good way The Darkness is getting andesperate and resorting to horrifying things to achieve its end And this club Sasha s parents want her to be a part of Sketchy at best Considering all of the elements around the club Sasha would o well to find her own apartmentI m looking forward to reading the rest of the Mystyx series I really like to get inside of Jake s head and Lindsay What s her Socialist Realism deal Poof she s there and she has powers too I want to know what s going on with her Overall Mystify was a pretty good seuel to Manifest Ion t think Sasha s voice was as strong as Krystal s was but it was entertaining I can t wait for the next on. Hen there’s Antoine Watson the boy Sasha has liked forever the boy her parents would never approve of But with the I Look Up To... Michelle Obama dark side gettingangerous by the Doctor Extraño day and the Mystyx’s own powers growing in unexpected ways Sasha is facing choices that could affect her friends her love life and even herestiny. Mystify Mystyx #2Reason for Reading next in the seriesI really enjoyed book one of this series but wasn t too taken with the angsty attitude of the main character and narrator Krystal My favourite character had been Sasha who had an attitude but the fun take no nonsense from anyone kind of tude Imagine my elight to see that this book was written from Sasha s point of viewUnfortunately the change in character views really changed the plot of the story and it took me a while to get into this book Sasha is not only the narrator but the main character of the book Krystal has a minor part But the fun Sasha I loved from the first book is changed in this book because the girl s rich never present parents have returned with a new project for the community and they want Sasha to play a vital role This is all about the Richies and Sasha is vehemently told off by her overbearing father about her choice of uestionable friends and told she will o what she has been told to Never Tell do This causes a riff between her and the other members of Mystyx who think that Sasha has become uppity about her social status when a hated rich girl starts hanging onto Sasha through her father soingThis is absolutely not the time for this to be happening to Sasha as her powers are becoming stronger and she is gaining new ones learning much about who they are and what their purpose is The strained relationships make it hard for them to work together when the Darkness returns and bodies of missing teenagers start turning upNot as strong a story as Manifest I Feminism is for Everybody didn t enjoy it as much even though I like Sasha as a character I missed the ghosts from book one and the book just had a totallyifferent feel I liked it but it wasn t a page turner for me at all at Hoping that the next book will be exciting and wondering whose point of view it will be from now that a 4th member has joined there team another girlAdded I just saw the cover of the third book and yeah it has Jake on the front and thus I m assuming will be from Jake s point of view Looking forward to it now Sometimes being an outsider is the best way to fit inSasha Carrington has grown up feeling like an outsider and her parents are too concerned with scaling the Lincoln Connecticut social ladder to even notice her They Deterring Democracy d be really horrified to know about the supernatural abilities Sasha and her friends Krystal and Jake possess But as part of the Mystyx Sasha has found her placeNow her parents have suddenly taken an interest in everything sheoes and their timing couldn t be worse Sasha s father wants her to become BFFs with snooty Alyssa Turner who hates Krystal for stealing her boyfriend Then there s Antoine Watson the boy Sasha has liked forever the boy her parents would never approve of But with the Comet in Moominland (The Moomins, dark side gettingangerous by the Hunters Heart day and the Mystyx s own powers growing in unexpected ways Sasha is facing choices that could affect her friends her love life and even herestinyOne of the main things I enjoyed about this book was the main character Sasha she was a feisty kick ass girl who Menneskefluene (K2 despite pressure from family and so called friendsid not give in to the I m rich so therefore I m better than you train of thought She was so much refreshing than the whiny Krystal I like that though tested the friendship of the Mystyxs held firm When you perceive yourself as odd and an outsider it s comforting to have the unconditional support of friends While this book Nazi Gold did move along the storyline a lot I was a bitisappointed in the abrupt ending Yes it s a series so there s got to be a cliff hanger but I guess I ve been conditioned by series books to expect at least one bad guy per book to get his just Mr Majeika and the School Inspector desserts while the storyline moves on to the next character I was pleased to see that Mayham can t help but have the wonderful Allstate commercials flash through my mind lol book 3 centers around Jake and isue out on July 19th WooHoo my birthday so I can t wait to tune back in for my Mystyx fixMystyx1 Manifest 20102 MYSTIFY 20113 MAYHEM 7192011 IF Mystify 20113 Mayhem 7192011 If were on the fence about the first book then rest assured that this entry will put you solidly in the crazy about Mystyx camp Sometimes being an outsider is the best way to fit inSasha Carrington has grown up feeling like an outsider and her parents are too concerned with scaling the Lincoln Connecticut social ladder to even notice her They be really horrified to know about the supernatural abilities Sasha and her friends Krystal and Jake possess But as part of the Mystyx Sasha has Found Her PlaceNow Her her placeNow her have suddenly taken an interest in everything she oes and their timing couldn t be worse Sasha s father wants her to become BFFs with snooty Alyssa Turner who hates Krystal for stealing her boyfriend Then there s Antoine Watson the boy Sasha has liked forever the boy her parents would never approve of But with the ark side getting angerous by the ay and the Mystyx s own powers growing in unexpected ways Sasha is facing choices that could affect her friends her love life and even her #destinyi liked the first book in the series #liked the first book in the series I have to admit that I enjoyed this book than the first one Sasha s a pretty tough cookie a little assertive at times than Krystal was in the first book Although I o have to say that Krystal seems to be coming into her own in this book as well It also helps that the chemistry between Sasha her crush Antoine is really well written comes across nicely Readers will really find themselves rooting for these twoThe book still has a bit of the growing pains that the first volume id but Author is getting comfortable with the characters the plot which comes across in her style You can really tell that she had a lot of fun writing this entry I just really wish that there were uestions answered in this volume I found myself really getting frustrated along with the characters that there weren t any real answers to their uestions just yet Even so I really o recommend checking this book out it s well worth readingARC provided by NetGalley I reviewed this book from an Advance Reader Copy from NetgalleyThis is uite a short uick fun read and just like the previous book Manifest reads a lot like a collection of journal entriesOur narrator this time is Sasha Carrington who we first met in Manifest through Krystals eyes Sasha is another teenager who gets pretty much whatever she wants but I found her instantly likeable and less whiny than Krystal Sasha has a good sense of fairness and is willing to stand up for what she believes in in the endSasha has a lot on her plat. Sometimes being an outsider is the best way to fit inSasha Carrington has grown up feeling like an outsider and her parents are too concerned with scaling the Lincoln Connecticut social ladder to even notice her They’d be really horrified to know about the supernatural abilities Sasha and her frien. E The Train Robbers distant parents bitchy girls at school and her first teenage crush is something of a starcrossed lovers scenario a Source Received from Netgalley Many thanks goes to the Netgalley team for sending me a copy of this book for review I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review My rating 35As theaughter of one of the wealthiest couples in Lincoln Sasha has her share of woes Her parents only pay attention to her when they want her to No Reason To Die do something for them and theyon t understand her relationship with her friends Sasha has a lot to handle when her parents force her to buddy up with one of the meanest and cattiest girls at school to help raw attention to her father s new exclusive club all on top of her emerging powers in the Mystyx Sasha must juggle the needs of her family as well as her own budding talents and the attention of her longtime crush Will she be able to find out what is going on before things take a turn for the worseMystify picks up a few short weeks after the end of Manifest Sasha comes to the forefront and we see how she reacts as she Krystal and Jake learn about their budding powers and the entity they must face Sasha is a believable character however her penchant for saying me and Krystal had me grinding my teeth She is an exceptional student and ends up going on a class trip as a volunteer to watch and help out the other students with their projects I had a hard time picturing her as saying me and Krystal It just idn t ring true for her personality Krystal s character has improved from Manifest and we get to see a calmer relaxed side of her Jake s powers are running him through a gamut of emotions making him moodier but also stronger This installment in the Mystyx series seems to be about finding out how their powers are evolving and there isn t really any closure to an event that happened earlier in the book The ending is anti climatic but I think it s building for the next installment Mayhem It was an enjoyable read and I liked the romance between Antonio and Sasha All in all a solid seuel to Manifest which will leave you wanting to know if they will be able to win the upcoming battle Some secrets are revealed while others continue to linger on as characters and twists are added to the plot I m having a giveaway for this one on my blog open till February 7th Click here to enterIn the previous book you had Krystal as the MC Admittedly she was a bit of a whiny brat at first but she redeemed herself in the end in my opinion and I could sympathize with her I thought it was interesting that they Raking The Ashes discovered their powers and was looking forward to knowing about them and seeing themeveloping said powers In this one we focus on Sasha who seems somewhat clueless Her parents are forcing her to team up with a girl she Ellie (Ellie, doesn t like at all for something that s not that important and sheoesn t know how to say no even though she is completely against it She Dear Office-Politics doesn t know how to really stand up for herself to them and is slowly realizing that not making up your mind can be aecision as well And that it Thomas Harriott does have conseuences Like Krystal she redeems herself and becomes a stronger character because of itOne thing I noticed in both books these kids have some seriously messed up parents I already had issues with Krystal s mom andad but Sasha s are eually strange Makes me feel even grateful for the family I have myself I mean it s pretty harsh for your parents to force you into a friendship with someone you absolutely A Mistletoe Kiss do not like because they want to get ahead in business Herad especially is not a warm cuddly sort of person In the town there s a lot of focus on social status based on where you live and how much on where you live and how much you make and Sasha s parents are among the elitists Their viewpoints make me sad and angry it reflects such ignoranceThere is a lot of teen angst in the book and the Darkness is not to be ignored There s actual evil laughter involved and this time it s actively trying to mess up their lives I won t give away what happens but this thingpersonpower I really want to find out what it is exactly is seriously isturbed and needs to be beaten I enjoyed learning about their powers and where they came from And Sasha s powers expand in a very logical way which I liked There s not a really great amount of action in the book it feels as a build up towards the real thing that s bound to come in the next book fingers crossed And I just have to say I m still rooting for Jake this will make sense if you ve read the book He seems like a Really Great GuyMy Rating great guyMy rating stars Mystify by Artist better The narrator voice seemed much stronger in this oneOne thing I really liked was how much growth we can see in the world from one book to the next The author s voice is growing and it seemed to me to be much stronger then in the first one Which is always a great thing to see I love seeing an author s voice get stronger from one book to the next It shows me as a reader that their world and characters have a lot to offer that we have not seen yetSasha s relationships with her fellow Mystyx a lot to offer that we have not seen yetSasha s relationships with her fellow Mystyx real in this one then the Mystyx relationships in the previous book I enjoyed the story line of her love interest and it was a believable one It reminded me of a friend s relationship in high schoolI o wish that
